WIRELESS DRIVER PROBLEM! ADAPTER CANT BE DETECTED DELL 600m Please HELP!

I just did a clean install of Windows XP on my dell 600m laptop. Everything is working but my wireless. I Cant get the wireless driver to work for me. Everytime i install a wireless driver windows says " Notice- This version of the wireless software does not support the currently installed wireless adpater ". I got a "Question mark" on my network controller under the device manager. Can someone please help me find the right driver for my wireless adapter. (Note-this is a used laptop, i dont have any original cds from DELL)

Here is a few info that might help:
Service Tag:C77b231

I opened the cover under my laptop (where the wireless adapter is located)
I found the following info:
Intel Model/WM3A2100
Class B

P/n : 094200

I dont know what this is but it was on it:
CN-094200-48112-351-0EBF

Can someone please help me with my wireless thank you.

The most likely cause of your immediate problem is that you haven't loaded the chipset driver yet.  For most Dell notebooks you have a set of drivers that should be loaded immediately following installation of the OS.  In order, they are the Dell Notebook System Software, the chipset driver, the video driver, and other drivers for your devices in any order you choose.  You can find these in the downloads section of the website.  If you move your mouse pointer to the notebooks tab at the top of this page you can click on "Inspiron" which will take you to the help page.  The downloads are under troubleshooting tools on that page.  Entering the service tag of your computer will take you to the specific files for your 600m.  If you explore the page a bit you should also find the service manual for your computer and the software installation guide.

Good luck!

I installed everything you said in order, and when i go to install a wireless driver, it still says the same thing " Notice-the version of this software is not supported by the wireless adapter". Where am i going wrong? There are only 4 intel wireless drivers which i can install... and none of them seems to install. Windows says the same notice message. Is there anything i can do ?

The model number you gave is consistent with the Intel ProWireless 2100.  I would try removing the device using the device manager and allowing Windows to redetect it.  I would then try installing R105328.exe available on the downloads page.  If this doesn't work I am at as much a loss as you.  You could also try re-seating the card if you haven't already done so.  As it is potentially a hardware problem, if you have the Dell diagnostics on the drive you can try hitting F12 at the startup screen to see if it has a section on wireless cards.  I would normally use the Dell wireless utility, but if the system isn't detecting the card properly I don't think that the utility would work.

You might try the Intel site to see if they have drivers for this card.

Again, good luck.
