Hopefully you ordered the B130 with an internal wireless network adapter, as it is very difficult to add one later. In terms of a router, you will only need that to connect to your home cable or dsl internet connection. It will do nothing for you on the road. For you home, just about any 802.11g wireless router from Linksys, Netgear, or D-Link will work just fine. There is no need to get a high speed (108 Mbps) router unless you are planning on frequently transfering large files between computers on your home network.
When connecting to a non-secure network, like at a hotspot, you should disable File and Printer Sharing on the wireless before connecting to the network.
How about security? The Inspiron B130 can actually detect other wireless connections (which is so cool) but I want wireless that I don't have to worry about anyone "tagging on" to me when I'm trying to get some work done on the internet. Any recommendations?
Yes, there is such a thing, but I have absolutely no experience with these as I have not used dialup in about 10 years. The following is a link to one such device, and there are probably others. Again I cannot say how well they work.

You can setup wireless security on your home router very easily. See the following:

http://www.ezlan.net/Wireless_Security.html
When connecting to a non-secure network, like at a hotspot, you should disable File and Printer Sharing on the wireless before connecting to the network.

Thanks for the tip. I will definitely check it out and install it tonight.
By the way, is there a such thing as "wireless for dial up connections"?
Thanks.
