Wireless help please!

I haven't been able to connect to the internet via my Inspiron 600m.  I bought a router for my desktop and it's hooked up properly but I still cannot connect to the internet through my laptop.  On my laptop it tells me that I am connected and the signal is excellent, but I cannot get online.  I am so frustrated, can anyone help me??

When I open Network Connections there is one icon that says :
Wireless Network Connection
 Connected
Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 2915ABG Network Connection

and the other one says:
Local Area Connection
Network Cable Unplugged
Broadcom 440x 10/100 Integrated Controller.

What does ' network cable unplugged' mean, and how can I fix it??
E-mail me please : K_Lorelli@yahoo.com

Thanks

Your message means that the wired Ethernet LAN connection is still enabled but it detects that you don't have it physically plugged in (probably because you want to use your wireles card instead). Right-click on the Local Area Connection and click on Disable. With the wired connection disabled you should be able to use your wireless connection fine. Based on what you are telling me it seems that you can connect to your router, but can't connect to the internet. Could it be that your network needs some type of security key? Make sure you have the proper key if you have this enabled, otherwise there is some kind of issue with the link between your router and modem.

There is no need to disable the ethernet connection whatsoever!  Wireless connection works independently from its ethernet counterpart.  If there is nothing connected to the ethernet port, ignore the message - it's standard on Windows.

Are you using any sort of wireless security? It sounds like you have the encryption (WEP/WPA) key incorrectly set.
