wireless icon has disappeared from network connections
I have an Inspiron 1501 with a 1390 wlan mini-card. Just recently the wireless connection has been a little hit and miss but a few days ago the connection ceased. Since then I have not been able to reconnect wirelessly as the wireless icon has just disappeared from the networks connections. I went into BIOS which shows that the wireless is enabled and I have downloaded and re-installed the network adapter but still no luck. Can anyone pleae give me an idea on how to get reconnected to the internet using the wireless.

Thanks for your suggestion but unfortunately I cannot get this to work as when I go into device manager my wireless card is not showing. Have you any other suggestions?

awmoo2,
Do you see anything in the control panel, programs and features?
Try going to drivers and downloads, enter your service tag(DO NOT POST SERVICE TAG here or your post will get deleted, since it contains your personal information), and install the Desktop/Notebook then the chipset drivers and then install the drivers for your wireless card.
What happens?

Wasnt sure what to look for in control panel but did check device manager again and found hidden files: - dell wireless 1390 mini-card packet scheduler miniport and radialpoint minicport (x86). I have know idea if this is relevant. Wireless card is also showing in the system information.
Downloaded and installed in turn each of the items you suggested but still no wireless icon showing in network connections (only LAN) . I am sure that the problem is something very simple but don`t have enough knowledge to figure it out.
Appreciate all of your help so far but do you have any other suggestions.
