wireless icon
hi i have a wired icon on my screen instead of a wireless one. how can i change this?

Still guessing you have Windows 7...
Make a system restore point. That way if this doesn't work, you can come back to what you have.
Go to Drivers & Downloads and enter your service tag number. Download the drivers for your wireless adapter and save them to your desktop.
Start, control panel, device manager, network.
Right click on your adapter, left click uninstall. Tell it to remove the drivers, also.
When it's done, restart your computer. When you log in to the unrestricted account, then new hardware wizard should find the adapter. Go to device manager to see if it installed properly. If it installed properly, you won't need the drivers. If it didn't install properly, then install the drivers.
Uninstalling, then reinstalling the adapter, the wireless icon should reappear in the system tray.

Make and model of your computer and operating system is helpful when asking for help. 32-bit or 64-bit?
I'm guessing that you have Windows 7. Try reading THIS THREAD.

Click on customize n the system tray, near the clock.
Then click on Wireless, show icon and notifications
Then click on turn icons on or off.
Make sure it's turned on.

Thanks Rick, I have a xps L502X windows7 64bit, I tried that thread but no joy, it has the wired icon there alright but not the wireless one, my wireless is working but just not showing it

I have that done Mark but when i customize, there is no network icon with signal strength just the wired network icon

thanks rick, i was in stockholm since wednesday so only got to do how, i actually only created a recovery point a few weeks ago so i recovered from that point, thanks for all your help
