Wireless Internet Card Problem!

I recently purchased a used Dell Latitude D600 with what I believe is the 2100 Intel(R) preoset/wireless card.

When I first purchased the notebook, I could just push Fn + F2 and the wireless would be activated and I could go on surfing the net.

I recetly had to format my harddrive due to severe virus problems.  I do not have nay of the original disk for the computer, but I did install my Windows XP Home Edition that I had on hand.  Now the wireless adapter does not appear to even be on this computer.  I have tried installing the "critical" driver for the Intel(R) proset/wireless from the Dell website, but I still get 1 of 2 messages each time I try to open the icon in the systems tray.  Also when i push Fn + F2 now, nothing happens.  The messages I get are:

either: software was unable to detect a wireless adapter.  Please install a wireless adapter.
or: Driver not installed.

Do I have the drivers installed wrong or what do I need to do?

I would really appreciate it if someone could help me out with detailed instructions!!

Please Help!!!

Thank You!

Steve,

I really appreciate your help on this.  Could you guide as to where to find those driverrs and which driver comes first.  I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks Again!

It looks like you did not install the drivers in the correct order.  The notebook system software and the chipset drivers need to be installed before even attempting to install other device drivers.  See the other 500 messages posted about this on these forums.

All possilbe drivers for the D6000 can be found on the following page:

Note that you should only install drivers for devices actually on your system.  The Notebook System Software is under "System Utilities".

The correct driver installation order is posted in a message at the top of the forum:
