Wireless Internet Connection

Hello,

I seem to be having trouble with connecting wirelessly to any network, the laptop indicates that I have a connection running and working well, but the connection only sends data but doesn't recieve it.  So in essence I'm unable to connect to the internet but I''m connected.  I have no knowledge in this type of stuff and some help would be much appreciated, if I didn't describe my problem well enough please do say so and I shall give a more detailed description if I can.

My Laptop is an Inspirion 1300.

Thanks for the help

To help troubleshoot this problem, on the computer with the problem, go to Start > Run and type cmd then click OK. In the command prompt window that opens, type ipconfig /all then hit the enter key. Write down the output from this command or select it and save it to a txt file, then copy this output into a reply to this message.

Your probablem is that you have your TCP/IP properties set to a static IP address which is probably not in the range of your router. You need to set it to obtain an IP address automatically. I can tell that because the ipconfig output shows that for your wireless connection, DHCP is not enabled.  To fix this, open Network Connections, right click your wireless connection and select Properties. Find the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), select it, then click on the properties button. Put a check mark next to "Obtain an IP address automatically", and, if necessary, put a check mark next to "Obtain DNS server address automatically".

Now you are getting an autoconfiguration IP address, which is assigned by Windows when it can't get an IP address from the router.  This could be caused by mismatched security features between the router and the network adapter.  Do you have any security features enabled on the router (like MAC address filtering or WEP or WPA encryption?  If MAC address filtering is enabled, have you entered the MAC address of the wireless adapter into the table of allowed MAC addresses on the router?  If WEP or WPA encryption is enabled on the router, have you entered in the correct encryption key in the connection box on the computer?
