Wireless Internet New USer

I just got my Inspiron 1000 and I have a wireless card.  After reading info from many different sources I am confused about how exactly to connect to the internet w/out the use of a phone line. Do I just need the card, a broadband router, and a high speed provider?  Is aol for broadband enough or do I need another service on top of that? Thanks for any input :)

For wireless, you need an ISP (Internet Service Provider), Wireless router (or switch), and a wireless card for your laptop.

I'm not familiar with AOL. Hopefully someone here can fill you in on that info.

I dont believe AOL does have a DSL/Cable service. You would have to go check for another service provider. A wirless card, wireless router/switch, and a connection is all you need.

as was stated before you will need high-speed internet (broadband), a wireless router, and a wireless card for the notebook.

internet: you can use whoever you want.  if you already have cable tv you may find a cable modem to be the cheapest.  alternatively if you have a phone plan with lots of options then a dsl line may be the best bet.  aol does currently offer a broadband service (DSL I think) and while it may take a tiny bit more configuring than the other options, it should work fine -- I personally just really dislike aol.   please make sure that whatever internet service provider you pick gives you a modem with an ETHERNET hookup -- if it's USB only you're going to have problems :)
