You should be able to get the same speed out of wireless as you do from a wired connection. Try going to www.dslreports.com and click on the Tools link on the left hand side. Run the tweak test, and if necessary download and run the DrTCP applet to change the RWIN values in the Windows Registry to the value recommended by the Tweak test.
The Broadband Reports tools are so cool. My only problem was that I needed to upgrade the firmware on the router. Missed that one. Now I am at mock speed. Thanks so much for your advice.

Are you running encryption on your network? If so, try temporarily disabling encryption and see if the speed improves.
