Wireless internet worldwide

Hello,

So far, I have understood that I need a wireless card to insert in my laptop, as well as a wireless router if I am home. When configuring my laptop, I noticed that Dell proposes two broadband cards; Verizon Wireless and Cingular. However, both only cover the United States. What should I do in order to be able to access internet while traveling around the world?

Also, I am interested in the Inspiron E1505 - is there a certain wireless card that complements the laptop better than others, and should there be some relation between the card and the router?

Finally, do I need anything special to access internet outdoors (for example in a park)?

Thanks very much for your help! :smileyhappy:

Oui,

If you are going to use a wireless card from Verizon, Cingular, or any other cell phone provider you will not need a router. This type of wireless talks directly to the Verizon or Cingular service.

A router is only needed for 802.11x local access. A router must be connected to broadband internet such as DSL or Cable, the router then sends a signal to the wireless adapter in your computer.

I do not know of an international card but perhaps one of the users knows of one.
