Alex,

When you installed the operating system, did you install the Dell System Software(if applicable) and the chipset drivers first? If not, the rest of the drivers will fail to install. How to Download and Install Drivers in the Correct Order

Start with the Dell System Software and the chipset drivers and follow the list.

Hi Rick,

My computer had the OS pre-installed. I did not use any CD at least.

I do not recall if I agree to install all the Dell package program during my first log in WIn 7 Pro.

I am at the moment trying to update drivers in the correct order, but it is quite technical... For example: What is a smartcard? The list of the proposed drivers are numerous...  What is the Intel Matrix Storage Manager? Is it the Intel Rapid Storage Technology Driver?

What do you mean by "fail to update?" In what case can I install the Dell System Software? I cannot find any program of this name on the Dell site nor my computer.

I have not finished (yet) to check all the drives and updates, but, 1) my laptop is 3 days old 2) concerning my Wireless card (Killer Wireless-N 1202), its driver is up to date.

 What is the next move?

Just an update to my last message. I have update all the possible drivers that I could.

In the end, the installation of the Qualcomm Atheros program for my Killer Network card resulted in a significant improvement of the Wifi connection, but yet quite slow. Indeed, now my old laptop present is "only" 2-3 times faster than my new XPS L521X. This is better, but clearly something is still very wrong.

Again, is it not just the antenna who is unsuited? I have read many comments (even recent ones) stating that the antenna should be replaced in order to obtain good performances.

Is this true?

Best regards,

Alex

Alex,

Go to Drivers & Downloads enter your service tag number, then select your operating system. Under Network, download and install the latest drivers.

Try these tweaks....

Start, control panel, device manager. Click on Network and then right click on your wireless adapter, left click properties, power management. Uncheck the box, allow computer to turn off this device to save power.

Go to the power options, and changed the Wireless Adapter Setting, from Maximum Power Setting to Maximum Performance.
