wireless issues w/E5500

I have "muscled" around with this issue for about 5 weeks now. The wireless connection is not always reliable. It is really a internet connection issue. I show connection always to my wireless router(verizon fios), but cannot reliably connect to the internet. I have disabled my wlan card and now am running a linksys pcmcia card. It is better because windows is running my wireless connection(wow did I just give props to windows?) but sometimes I still don't get my connection or lose it during surfing. I am not sure this isn't a software issue. Ideas anyone?
