wireless keeps turning off once connected, help!

hey all,

I have a really annoying problem with the Inspirion 6400 onboard wireless! Here is the problem step by step:

1. Load windows, wirless config finds the network ok.

2. Connect to the network.

3. Try and and ping the router.

As you can see a connection is made, the comp is assigned an ip address, however the connection dies after a few seconds, Windows dosent report that I have lost connectivity, it still says I am connected and an IP address is still assigned however after 3 mins the wireless card turns off and windows hangs when trying to view anything associated with wireless. In order to activate the card again I have to reboot. Does anybody have any ideas? I will call tech support on monday, I only got the laptop on friday and it been a headache this weekend. Below is a list of things I have tried:

1. Windows and Intel software to manage connections
2. Latest wireless drivers from intel
3. Disable wireless security
4. Force wireless b/g only
5. Various channels

Well I couldnt wait until monday so I called linksys and managed to sort the problem, it it just so happend the power management was set to 4/6 however Intel Pro wirless needs to be set at max to work properly, after setting that up the connection stayed. I also chnaged the beacon interval from my router setup, and moved to channel 6. However I think it was the power option that did the trick. So if anyone else has connectivity issues with the onboard wireless it may be worth checking.

The default value for the beacon interval was 100ms i chnaged it to 50ms. The beacon interval is how how often the router synchronises the network, basically how often it send out a signal saying its there.

What was the default (original) setting and the value to which you changed it?
