Hi itrocks29,

Welcome to the Community.

Inspiron 1525 laptop is designed to work with Wireless Wide Area Networking (WWAN) technology. The sim card slot in your laptop is for connecting to the internet via WWAN.

WWAN takes advantage of the cellular network infrastructure and provides seamless internet connectivity. Unlike the traditional wired and wireless connections, this technology allows to stay connected to the internet while you are travelling around. You may move across various areas of coverage – and even use different kinds of network connectivity – while maintaining an uninterrupted connection.

To use this service, a sim card has to be installed in the slot. It is sometimes shipped with the laptop. There are multiple Wireless Broadband Mobile Cards that work with this system. I want to know the type of card that was shipped with your laptop (if purchased).

Kindly click the following link to capture the detailed specifications of your computer:

(Please enter the Service Tag of the computer in the empty field and then hit the “Submit” button).

You may also want to purchase a card if it was not factory installed. After the installation of a card, it is activated with help of a cellular network service provider in your area (compatible to the installed card).

I would be glad to assist you further once we get the system details.

You may want to check the following link on Dell Support website for more information on Mobile Broadband: support.dell.com/.../document

Hope you find this article useful. Keep me posted on the status.
