wireless network adapter shutdown
Wireless network adapter shuts down when idle
Inspiron 1121 with Core i 3, Windows 7
Keep having to use network diagnostics troubleshooter to bring up screen "apply this fix" which then turns on wireless capability.
this problem occurs when the computer is idle, or when it is shutdown (in any of the shutdown modes)

Arnski,
Try these tweaks....
Start, control panel, device manager. Click on Network and then right click on your network adapter, left click properties, power management. Uncheck the box, allow computer to turn off this device to save power.
Go to the power options, and changed the Wireless Adapter Setting, from Maximum Power Setting to Maximum Performance.

Hi Rick...thanks did try your suggs but its still continuing to shutdown. When I do the Windows diagnostics troubleshooter and it finds the problem I then "apply this fix" and it turns the network adapter on again. If machine is idle or shut down it has to be again re-initiated. Let me know if you have any more ideas. One thing about this model if I try to turn on manually with the F2 key and Fn there is no way (no indicator) to determine which is "off" and which is "on'....no indicator in the bar either. thanks arnski

arnski,
Start, all programs, accessories, right click on command prompt, left click run as administrator. Type
netsh winsock reset catalog
This will reset the winsock catalog
If your system is under warranty, I would contact Dell Tech Support.
