Wireless network adapter
I am looking at buying a new Dell laptop (8600) and am wondering why I need to buy a mini pci wireless network adapter when the laptop comes with a Centrrino processor? Won't this mean that I'll have two wireless adapters?

There is really no need to get a card for A networks since that standard is fading fast. If it were me, I would go for the G card which would also work with B.
However, I would stay away from the Truemobile products as this board is full of posts with problems. I've never had a problem with Linksys or Netgear products, plus their interface is a lot easier to use for the new users.

either the centrino solution or a cheap wireless B card will meet your need. The cable modem max out at 1.5mb. B standard run up to 11 mb. Ususally, you get at least 5mb. So the bottom neck is always on your internet connection not your wireless network card. Office applications require even less bandwidth in most cases unless you are heavily into database and/or video stuff.
and don't buy the the dell TM1300 wireless adaptor. It is unstable and known to have problem for over half a year. It does not seem DELL has done anything to rectify the problems. And don't buy the dell 2300 wireless router. I returned mine within a week and bot the linksys one living happily ever after since.
Good Luck!
