Wireless Network adaptor not showing in Device manager

Hi,

I have recently Installed Windows 8 in my Dell Studio 15, while working on it suddenly the wi-fi stopped working. Tried to check on Device manager, it wasn't showing there.Initially Windows Vista was installed with the laptop, I had installed Windows 7 and then Windoiws 8. I didn't find any problem before using it, but suddenly it happened. Checked by turning wi-fi ON and OFF, nothing happened, it just shows wireless adaptor not found.

Did try to install wireless drivers but got error " Error "Setup.rul 342" has occured and setup cannot continue"

Please help me to get rid of it.

Hi Umesh,

Please share the exact system model. Dell has not tested Studio systems with Windows 8, hence drivers are not available. The error code shared by you appears to be caused by driver conflict. Please share the screenshot of the Device Manager with Network Adapter and Other Devices expanded. Here are the steps:

  • Press the key combination of 'Windows Logo' key + 'R' key to open 'Run' dialog box.
  • Type in 'devmgmt.msc' and click 'OK'.
  • The 'Device Manager' windows will appear.
  • Click on the sign next to Network Adapter and Other Devices to expand them.

Also, share the Hardware Ids of the device which has a bang in the Device Manager, this will assist me to identify device and its drivers. Here are the steps:

  • Open Device Manager.
  • Select your device and right click on it.
  • Click Properties from the drop down list.
  • Click Details and then click Device description button to select Hardware Ids.
  • Share the Hardware Ids mentioned under Value.

Please reply with the information, I'll be happy to assist further.
