I too have a problem with installing a PCI Wifi card in my dell 8400. After installing the card in the next available PCI slot the PC got blue screens and crashed a couple of times (0x00 0004f stop code). I removed the card and the drivers but after a few days the PC didn't start up at all. After running diagnostics a memory module appeared corrupt. I replaced the module and the stop errors were gone so. I thought this to be independent of the PCI install so I installed the card again, but again the stop errors occurred (same stop code). I removed the card again and the stop errors were gone. What is going on?
