you can look here. I would say the broadcom is your nic connection which uses a cat 5 cable.

Broadcom is for your Ethernet connection. If you open Broadcom Advanced Control Suite you will have your available ways to connect on the left pane. Broadcom Integrated Controller ans you Dell wireless card under that.

From your first post you said "Could anyone tell me if  a Dell Inspiron 1300 has an internal network card ?" It is highly likely that your Inspiron 1300 will have a wireless card. to check if it does have a wireless card open Device Manager and click Network Adapters. If you do have a wireless card it will be showing there.

I did that already, it shows  Broadcom adaptor but I can't configure it to connect to  my wireless network . My question  would then be  can I connect using the Broadcom Integrated Adaptor i have the wireless symbol on my  keyboard and have tried FN and F2 and nothing happens .
