If both systems are running XP, you should find the links under XP Networking Help below useful in troubleshooting this problem. The first and last articles listed (about file sharing) should be the most helpful based on your symptoms. If both machines aren't running XP, you should specify what OS they're running. You might also want to post in one of the "software" boards, since this a software problem setting up file sharing rather than a network hardware problem. If they're both XP, and you don't have Service Pack 2 installed, the XP firewall will need to be disabled in order for file sharing to work between the two machines.
Had you considered purchasing a wireless router instead of using Internet Connection Sharing? That would improve the protection of the machines, and eliminate the need for the tower system being turned on when the M60 needs Internet access.
Thanks Jim, I am running XP on both. I will eventually get a wireless router when broadband becomes available to me. I have managed to get an intermittent connection and share files after installing a new beta driver from Netgear.
