wireless network connection not resumed after returning from standby or hibernate

Hello,

I have a Inspiron 9300 notebook, with Dell wireless card.

If I put the computer into standby, when it resumes the wireless connection fails to reconnect. I have to do a complete restart of the computer for the network connectivity to work again.

I have tried flushing the DNS cache; no good. Nothing except a reboot seems to work.

An Acer notebook I also own does not have this problem - it can be on standby or hibernate for days, and immediately on resume it connects to the internet.

Only this thread seems to have an partial answer about killing the SVCHOST process, which I have not yet tried.

Anyone have any ideas?

Hi, I have the exact same problem.  It's a new Vostro 1500 laptop with XP Home, Dell wireless card and Netgear wireless router.  I have other wireless devices that have no problem re-connecting.

After standby or hibernate, I often (though not always) get the message "limited or no connectivity".  My solution has been to "reboot" the router.  After I plug it back in, the Vostro connects like it should.

I tried installing an update for the wireless card, but that caused it to stop working completely.  I worked with Dell support to uninstall the update.  I'd love to find the real solution and stop unplugging the router.

Thanks,
Pat

I am having the same problem as well. I just got an Inspiron 1520 for Christmas. So I have only been using it a few days. The first day I set up the internet connection I had no problem but now when my computer goes into sleep mode or hibernate mode I lose internet connection and it won't reconnect. It will seach for a network, then say that I have limited access or the network is unidentified.  I have to either disconnect from the network and reconnect and sometimes I even have to restart the laptop to get the connection back. Does anyone have any suggestinons? I have the Dell Wireless 1390 WLAN mini card. I am not a computer pro so I don't know how to kill the SVCHost process without some instructions. I just want this fixed! I have only had this computer 4 days!

I also have the Dell Wireless 1390 WLAN mini card, so maybe that's where the problem is.  There is a guy named Steve (Volcano 11) that posts responses for many on this thread.  Maybe he has a solution for us?
Thanks,
Pat

KSB075 says the problem was fixed by applying the advice in the following thread -

Yes, Steve is right. I found help in the link that he provided. It seems to have done the trick.

This link doesn't seem to work. Can someone just post the solution here?
