 kconn0212,

Not sure if your adapter has this setting or not.

Start, control panel, device manager, network, advanced. Look mfor Antenna diversity. If it's there, try changing it from Auto to Aux.

Restart your computer.

Other options are to use these Recommended Wireless Router Settings, I use channel 11.

 kconn0212,

Restart your computer and check the BIOS, press F2 on startup look and make sure the wireless card is enable in the BIOS.

Power off the ISP modem/router an the wireless router(if any) Wait 30 secons. Turn on the ISP modem/router. Wait 30 seconds, then turn on the wireless router(if any).

Try running WinSock XP Fix

Run an  ipconfig /all and post back.

 kconn0212,

You can download it to the computer you're using and put it on a flash drive or burn it to a cd/dvd.

Manual method is...

Winsock2 How to determine and to recover from Winsock2 corruption in Windows Server 2003, in Windows XP, and in Windows Vista

To release the old ip address...

Start, all programs, accessories, right click command prompt, left click run as administrator.(XP just click on the commmand prompt)

Type

ipconfig /release          (space between the g and /)

Hit enter. Restart your computer.

Windows Vista cannot obtain an IP address from certain routers or from certain non-Microsoft DHCP servers

Hi there,

Sorry I had to go offline last night.

I have tried checking the bios which states that it is enabled.

The winsok Xp fix I cannot download as I can't get online at all with my laptop.  I am not sure if my old IP address is maybe still on my laptop as I have not used it at my new addresss with different connection..

Thanks again for your help..

Hi,

I have done a system restore to the furthest date I could from when I now it was working and it seems to have rest everything back to what it was.

But now it is asking me for a passphrase, but I do not have a pass phrase, could you tell me how I can retrieve it from my pc which is my main computer set to the router, in order for me to use my laptop wirelessly.

Many Thanks again for your help.

kconn0212,

You connect to your network. The passphrase is the password for your wireless network.
