Wireless Network Issues

Question

I was wondering --- Is it possible for me to split my cable internet service so that my dell dimension runs directly off of a cable modem while my dell notebook is linked to a wireless router? I cannot access a television service that I pay for over the internet, ever since I installed both my desktop and notebook on a router. The website for the television service that I subscribe to points the fact that my monthly subscription will not work the way in-which my desktop is currently setup through the router, I must use a direct connection from a cable modem. Is there a way for me to have the best of both worlds- my desktop connected directly to a cable modem from the wall jack while my notebook is connected via a wireless router? Sorry for any misspelled words, I am short on time. I sincerely thank-you for your replies.

Yes,

You need a Linksys Wireless Router. I saw them on sale at Best Buy for $50

You will probably need a few CAT5 cables, etc. Go to Best by tell them what you want to do, & stay with Linksys. Netgear is good but not as good as Linksys.

I run a WRT54G on a LAN & WiFi.

My WiFi range is around 1 mile with 1 WRT54G & 1 WAP54G
