I've heard of some successes among the forum users in installing it after the fact. Try adding it now and see if that works. You might still have to update or reinstall all or some of the other drivers--especially the network drivers.

You need to install the Notebook System Software first along with the Chipset drivers so the other drivers can be installed properly. If you cannot find it on the reinstall driver disk, download it from Dell Downloads for your system under System Utilities-- GO HERE.

Thanks Mary, Do you mean to say that after instaling XP os i shud install this "Notebook System Software" and then move on to install the other drivers in resource CD?

Was able to connect to wireless network and i feel u were right saying network drivers shall be installed after system s/w.. finally i can sleep with no wories..

it was a tough day i must say while doing all this...

anyways.. now notebook is back in new shape.. and i have created a copy of installation as well with Norton ghost.. hope i dont have to struggle next time ;-)
