Wireless network not found after reboot

I have just bought a Dell Dimension E521 running Windows Vista Business and I also bought a Belkin F5D7050 wireless USB adapter.

Setting up the wireless was no problem and it mostly works fine. The problem is that whenever I reboot the machine it cannot find any wireless networks. The diagnose and repair utility claims that there are no wireless networks in range. The light on the USB wireless adapter does not flash at all. The solution is simple enough, remove the wireless adaptor from the USB socket, pause, plug it back in. After that it sorts itself out and finds the network again and reconnects by itself. I can also get it to work by going to network connections and right clicking the wireless connection and disabling it and then enabling it again.

The system also gets into this state if it is left running for a while, i.e. if I stop it from ever going to sleep then if it is not used for a while (maybe an hour, not exactly sure how long) it can get into this state where it loses connection to the wireless and I have to use the same fix to get it back. If I let it go to sleep after 30 minutes of inactivity then when I wake it up again it seems to find the network on it's own and reconnect without any assistance from me.

I just find it rather annoying that I have to mess about with pulling the adapter out and plugging it back in every time I reboot.

I have loaded all the latest windows updates and the device driver is up to date according to Vista.

Anybody got any suggestions?

njeffrey,

Which USB port do you have this plugged into the front or the back? If in the back switch them to the front. If in the front switch to the back and retry. Also, can you Belkin F5D7050 use ethernet? It is recommended to use ethernet instead of USB.
