Wireless network set up

I'm trying to set up a wireless network on a Dell Inspiron 570 (Windows 7) using a sweex wirless 54G Router but I cannot find a wizard and the instruction manual with the Sweex does not list the steps to take when setting up in W7, can anyone help.

 bestduncans,

You need to log in to your wireless router and set it up first using the ethernet cable

How to login to your wireless router

Your default ip address should be something like. http://192.168.50.1

default

username = sweex

password = mysweex

I recommend that you change the password and write the password down.

Use these Recommended Wireless Router Settings, I use channel 11. You should be ok to connect after restarting your routers and computer(s)

To connect...

  1. Click Start ® Network.

  2. Click Network and Sharing Center on the navigation bar at the top of the Network folder.

  3. Click Connect to a network under Tasks.

  4. Select the desired network from the list and click Connect.

Rick,

Thanks for the response, I tried all of the above but it still tells me wirless devices not enabled. How do I find out if I have a NIC installed with the computer? do these come as standard or would you specificaly need to purchase and instal?
