Wireless Network setup problem for Inspiron 1150.

Hi, I don't know anything about wireless network. I bought inspiron 1150 which comes with wireless card (i.e. 1350 mini-PCI card, I suppose). But I don't know whether I need to install some drivers to get connected to internet? Currently, windows is handling my wireless connection which is not able to connect to any available network at all. Do I have to do something to get connected meaning installing the drivers etc.? If I have to install the driver, then can you please let me know which driver I need to install & where I can get it? Thanks in advance....

You can only use your laptop to connect to the Internet wirelessly if there is a wireless network in your near vicinity. This means you should either have a wireless router or access to a wireless hotspot.

I agree to this completely. When I visited Chicago, I was staying in hotel which has got wireless internet. But my laptop was not able to detect that wireless connection. I am having Windows XP on my laptop and I heard that I don't have to do any kind of setup to detect the connection. Whenever I refresh to check the connection, it gives me a message saying that no wireless connection is available. I don't know what will be the problem.

Appreciated your help!

Did you actually see a wireless network but were unable to connect to it?

If that was the case then it is most likely that the network you were seeing was encrypted and denying you access. I suspect that you probably needed to get the encryption key from the Hotel staff to enable a connection to be made.

I'm having the same problem. It's say Wireless Connection Not Connected with a big red X on it. When I click on it , it says to make sure the wireless card is turned on. Could that be the problem? How do we turn it on? It's not detecting any kind of connection.

This has (shift + F2) has resolved my problem. Now, my laptop can detect the wireless network that I have already setup. I can even able to connect to it. But it is not connecting to internet. Previously, I used to connect through broadband. So, I don't know how to make IE use wireless connection instead of broadband. Can you please help me with this? Thanks a lot...
