wireless network

myself and my husband have a dell inspiron 1300 laptop we are wireless in our household, i can connect to the internet but a week ago my husband lost his connection, the only difference we can see between our laptops are, my husband has not got mwl filter, does this make a difference? if so how do we get it back?  we are connected through gateway on a belkin router, plz help ty
