Wireless - slower transfer speeds - 11mb to 54mb at best.  (Ok, there are propriatary 108mb networks but you must use the same capability router and wireless cards).
Wired - 100mb speeds - 1000mb is you have the cash.

Wireless - even with encryption and MAC filtering, it is crackable and able to be compromised by a dedicated hacker.
Wired - the hacker would have to get a cable hooked to your LAN.

Wireless WAN hacking - easy to secure and then test at www.dslreports.com/scan/
Wired WAN hacking - same as Wireless.

Wireless - able to roam around untethered within the range of the access point or router (depends on unit and surrounding construction).
Wired - up to the Cat5e wire distance limit (~300+ feet or more) but you have to have the wire and be tied to it.

That should get you started.
