Wireless network/internet problem

Hi, I just got my new Inspiron 6400 with Windows Vista. If I want to set-up a connection to the internet Vista couldn't find my network. Only if the security of the network is disabled. What could this be? And what can I do about it? Thanks in advance!

Your reply has nothing to do with whether or not the SSID is hidden. First of all, it only effects wireless connectdions, second, Vista is the only version of Windows affected, and third, you may not know whehter or not it is hidden unless you check, because once you connect to the network in versions of Windows other than Vista, you will always be able to connect again.

I have a desktop with XP that is connected with this network. And I also entered the SSID, so I guess that isn't the problem...

If it can't find the network, it means that you have disabled broadcasting of the SSID.  Since this really does not provide much in the way of security, just enable SSID broadcasting on the router.  Alternatively, if you want to keep the SSID hidden, you will need to set up a profile in order for Vista to find the network.
