Wireless not detected

Hi - reinstalled XP Pro (SP2) on Inspiron 1300. All looks good except the system does not detect the Broadcom Wireless Card (PCI) that the system contains. This worked when the machine shipped from.

I have checked device manager, removed, restarted, nothing...  system finds Ethernet adaptor fine, but not the Wireless card.

Next step, I downloaded all the drivers from Dell, and installed these, I now try to run the automated check - still nothing. When I run it manually telling system to use driver disk (on C, at R115821) it returns me to the select the hardware screnn, but nothing is there to select!

Any help would be much appreciated.

Did you install the Notebook System Software and the Chipset drivers as the first drivers installed after reinstallation of Windows? Without the chipset drivers, Windows will not be able to recognize or install drivers for many other devices.  It is absolutely essential that the drivers be installed in the correct order.

IF you didn't install the drivers in the correct order, sometimes it works if you go into Device Manager, uninstall the devices, reboot and then try loading the drivers in the correct order.  If this doesn't work, the only solution is start all over - reformatting, reinstalling Windows, then installing the drivers in the correct order.
