Wireless Printer Server

Hi Guys,

I recently received my new Dell Inspiron W1505.  Everything has been great except I am running into a brick wall that I cannot punch through.  I have a Linksys WRT54GS Router and a Linksys Wireless G Printer Server.  The router is fine and it my internal wireless card works great with the router.  The issue is the Printer Server.  I also have a HP laptop and a couple of desktops.  The printer server has been setup with my Laptop and desktops since I bought it with no problems.  I attempted to find the printer with the Dell and have been unsuccessful.  i have tried to reset the print server and install the printer server software onto the Laptop.. no go it will not detect the Printer Server.  I have tried to uninstall and install the printer software before and after... (tried several different combinations) but no luck.  It is becoming a little frustrating because it should really be quite simple of a procedure.  i thought i would try the Dell Side first before trying to ask Linksys/Cisco.

What do you guys think?

I thought about that but I have complete access to all of my different computers shared files.  No issues.  What is interest is when I check PC-cillian and under the network security where is allows you to see the devices that are connected to my network it shows the 3 other computers, my router, and the print server.  So we see the print server but it will not install a connection to it.  Thanks for the idea, I will continue to try and figure it out. :)

Are you having problem with accessing shared files on another computer on the network?  My guess is that the security program like Norton Internet Security on your 1505 may be blocking it.

sirbronze

Compare the MAC addresses between the print server and the router? This can be done through the router's web-based utility. These settings need to be identical. Not sure about Linksys but, Netgear assigns a MAC address automatically for wireless devices that may be one digit off from the physical MAC address of the print server.
