Did you run the Add Printer Wizard and elect to add a network printer?
The alternative is to remove existing printer and run the Add Printer Wizard again to add a new local printer but add an TCP port if you know the IP address of the printer on the network and reinstall your printer on the network.
If your printer is attached directly to a router LAN port with a LAN cable, it would have been either a) assigned or fixed to an IP address by the router, or b) configured to a fixed IP address through the printer's network configuration menu (if available depending on printer model). In either case, you should be able to locate the IP address with your router's DHCP Clients Table function.
If you run the Add Printer Wizard to add as a network printer, you won't need to know its IP address - simply look for the printer under any network Workgroup being displayed.
