Wireless problem outside house
Hi
Hope someone can help with this one because Dell can't. My laptop has a wireless card. I have a Hawking Wireless 54g High Speed G Router HWR54g, this is connected to a D Link DSL 504 router.
My problem is that I can only get wireless connectivity whilst I am in my own home. As soon as I take the laptop out of the house, although the internet says its connected to any unsecured network, the web pages are "not available".
This defeats the object of having a wireless laptop. As I am a total novice could someone shed some light on this one as I am going away soon and want to take the laptop with me.
The wireless card has been replaced by Dell but that has made no difference.
Thanks for looking.

depending on whether you're using intels software, dell's, or microsoft's to work with your wireless cards the gui will be different on how to check what's going on:

Are you using proset? Dell Wireless? or Windows standard networking?
