Are you trying to connect to a router that you own? Does that router have any security or MAC address filtering enabled? If it is your own router, as a troubleshooting step can you connect to it and get an internet connection through a wired ethernet connection?
Most universities have some kind of security enabled that will allow only authorized users to connect. Have you ever connected to this wireless network before? Have you consulted with the computer services at the university to see what is required to connect to their network?
