Wireless Problem

Question

Hi i haveccently bought an inspiron 1525 (the most basic one). I have got the ethernet working but not the wireless. When i turn the switch up on the side nothing happens. It also says i need the driver for the network controller and i am having trouble installing the driver for that. Will that have anythink too do with the wireless not working? Any soloutions to these problems would be much appriciated thanks .

We need more information. Open Device Manager, expand the listing for Network Adapters and tell us what is listed thre. Open Network Connections, and tell us what connections are listed there. Also tell us which version of Windows you are running and the make and model of your wireless router.

the computer is running of vista and the router is a bt voyager 2500v but its the computer that is the problem the wireless wont even turn on.

ok well in device manager it has a exclamation mark next too network controller which is under other devices. It previously had the same sign next to the ethernet controller but i updated the driver which means i can now get on the internet. i have tried uploading the driver for the wireless too work but it just isnt i realy have no clue what to do now.

Hi! I've the same problem. Wireless just won't turn on and in device manager-->other device-->network controller (exclamation mark) and nothing but this and I can't update driver to this. I'm working on vostro 1500 vista ultimate (polish edition), Dell Wireless 1390 802.11g Wi-Fi Mini Card, router D-Link DI-254.
