Wireless Problems

After some help here if possible. My girlfriend has a Dell Inspiron 1501 laptop, which last week decided it no longer wanted to boot. Ended up formatting the HD & reinstalling Windows. Although I could only get hold of Windows XP Pro (rather than home this time). All installed fine, went onto the Dell website & installed all the required drivers. But i'm having a real issue with it connecting to the wireless network. It can see the router, and it even asks me for the security key, which I enter. However whatever I do, it is unable to assign an IP address or properly 'connect'. In turn it cannot connect to the internet & sees everything as offline. In the device manager it has: Broadcom 440x 10/100 Integrated controller Dell Wireless 1390 WLAN Mini-Card   I'm pulling my hair out with it now. I have tried running ipconfg/renew or refresh, neither of which work, getting an error message about media devices being disabled (although both network adapters are enabled).   Am I missing something or do I need to start again?

Before loading the wireless nic drivers did you load Notebook System Software and the Chipset drivers first. Try an disable security and see if it will connect first. If it connects then enable security.
