wireless router problem

Question

I just recieved a wireless router and after hooking it up, my new desktop still cannot get the internet. The card has been installed and there seems to be a signal, but it is still is not working???Any advice, I am going losing patience here.  The modem we have is in the living room and was original done up for a laptop.  The new computer is in an extra bedroom.  Still nothing.

Please provide some detail on you equipment.  Additionally, did you internet connection ever work prior to the installation of the wireless router?
