wireless router problem

I recently reinstalled windows xp on laptop .
I installed truemobile 2300 wireless router.
It works wired, but I can't get  it to be detected as a wireless network
Any help is greatly appreciated.
I've tried everything  :-)

Which model computer?  Which wireless network card?  Did you install the drivers for the wireless network card?  Does the wireless card show up in Device Manager?  Does it show up in Network Connections?  Please provide a bit more information to work with here!

If you right-click the wireless network connection in Network Connections and select View Available Wireless Networks, does your network show up?  If so, what happens when you select it and click on the "Connect" button?  If not, did you set up your router to hide the SSID of the network?

Did you set the router up?  If you have a computer that is making a sucessful conection to the router, you should be able to go into the router's configuration utility and see.   To get into the utility, open Internet Explorer and type http://192.168.2.1 into the Address Bar and click Go.   If you changed the defualt username and password, you will have to enter it to get into the utility.  Otherwise the default username and password are admin and admin.  Have you looked at the user's guide that came with the router?

Network does not show up.  How do I know if I set router to hide ssid of the network.  I'm sorry I didn't say it before, Steve, but thank you for taking the time to help me with my problem.

On the diagnostics tab on the card utility, the microcode memory test fails.  Everyother test passes.

Could this be what the problem is?

This is normal.  The memory test will fail on any network adapter that does not have memory chips.  Since none of the wireless cards that Dell ships have memory on them, the memory test will always fail.  This is not your problem!

You said in a previous message " it can't find it".  What can't find what?  The name of your wireless network is "wireless".  The question I had asked is whether or not the SSID is set to be hidden or on some routers this would be SSID Broadcast.  If you somehow set the router up to hide the SSID or to disable SSID broadcast, then you will not see your wireless network in View Available Wireless Networks.  So I ask this question again SSID broadcast enabled or disabled or is SSID set to hidden?

wireless network is enabled .  It is not hidden. Thanks for telling me how to access the info.

After I did the whole router setup, the utility said unable to detect dell truemobile 802.11 b/g router.

Could this be true, considering i accessed info using http://192.168.2.1 ?

Again, thanks for taking the time to help me.

I also noticed that PPoE is not enabled.  Is that relavant?

Also, on the routing table I have 3 INF types.  Two of the INF Types have information. The last (third) Type has 0.0.0.0 for destination IP Address and Subnet Mask.  It ,however, does have a Gateway IP address.  All three have a Hop Count of 1, whatever that means.

I hope this additional information will somehow help you help me.

                     Thank you,

                      Leslie

You say "the utility said unable to detect dell truemobile 802.11 b/g router".  Which utility are you talking about?  Which routing table are you talking about.  You really need to spell things out in detail, as I cannot see what you are doing from here.

If the icon is in red , it indicates that the connection to the router has failed.

The icon is RED.  If I point to the icon it says The control utility was unable to detect the router.

Again, which utility is this?  Did you install the buggy software for the router?  If so, uninstall it.  You don't need it.

Under Start Programs dell trumobile I have 2 card utilities listed:

1400 dual band wlan mini-pci card utility and

1300 wlan mini-pci card utility

Until I here from you I haven't uninstalled them.

They came on the trumobile instalation CD and were installed upon installation.
