wireless router trouble
Hi. I recently received a new truemobile 2300 router.
The problem: it works intermittently.
Every 5 to 10 minutes the router dies and my card jumps to a neighbor's
service. I then have to go through wireless properties to reconnect.
Very annoying.
I have a cable modem and the problem is not on Comcast's end.
How do I retain a steady signal and for my computer only to address my router?

Try changing the channels on the router to one of the extremes, either 1 or 11. Do you have any 2.4 Ghz cordless phones that may be causing interference? If so, move the cordless phone base stations as far away as possible from the router.

Steve-
Thanks for the reply, but it still does not keep the signal.
I disconnected our phone and changed the channel accordingly.
There has to be a way to tell my card to only recognize one ISP.
Let me know if you have any other advice.

See if you can get your neighbor to change the channel on their network or to provide some security for their network, like MAC address filtering, WEP or WPA encryption, etc. You should do the same on your network to help prevent intruders onto your network. Apparantly right now both networks are insecure and open to anyone driving down the street looking to find a good source of credit card numbers, bank account numbers, passwords, or other sensitive information.

Surprisingly, that is not the problem. My network is WEP protected as is theirs. My card detects the broadcast, but cannot get online through their networks. I used to, but then they WEP'd me. That is why I got Comcast. No more for free.
Problem (happened just now) still persists.

Are you running Windows XP? If so, are you using Wireless Zero Configuration? If you right-click on the network icon in the system try, do you see an option to View Available Wireless Networks? If so, click on that and then click on the Advanced tab. You can then remove any networks to which you don't want to connect in that Window.

RIGHT, BUT THEY POP BACK UP AFTER AWHILE.
MY SYSTEM IS CONSTANTLY DETECTING OTHER PEOPLE'S WIRELESS.
ONCE REMOVED, THE POP BACK UP LIKE BAMBOO.
