I have to disable my wireless connection after booting up because no connection exists. The wireless network connection icon says 'excellent' but until I disable/enable the connection I am offline. If the connection was disabled before shutdown, then a simple enable works. Is there a setting that needs changing. Thanks.
I don't have a solution (yet) but I want to second this issue. I have the exact same problem, but many of the posts seem related, but don't describe this exactly. I'll try and let you know if I find anything, as well. I've also found that if you use the Dell Truemobile WLAN Utility, and run the diagnostics, which tempor. disables the connection, it sometimes ends with a good connection.
To others - once connected, I don't see dropouts like others complain of, and the signal strength shows excellent, and it's not an interference issue, because I can try it right next to the router (Linksys WRT54G) with the same results. I've found several similar posts on other boards when Googled, many suggestions but none have helped so far.
They include: changing the System WZCSVC (Wireless Zero Config) service and restarting it manually - same as deleting the network configuration and re-connecting, to removing some installed XP updates...
Also includes a registry addition/tweak to fix it. Details on how and why this works are on this forum. Looks like it's more of a WPA and XP problem than a Dell, router, or any other - lots of people are posting the same problem that have lots of different hardware.
