Wireless USB

I recently purchased the Dimension C521 and added this adapter for wireless connectivity to my home network. I'm getting the BSOD (blue screen of death) several times a day. Occording to the blue screen report, the offending driver is A5AGU.sys.
Anybody else experiencing problems with the use of the DLink WUA-2340 USB wireless adapter?

Some drivers can mess up your OS...

Recommend you check D-Link for latest drivers for the NIC.  The winsock tools help get you back to where you were before installing the driver if you have problems uninstalling the old one.

Tad,

The blue screen error I'm getting is:

----------------------------
DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

additional information, then
STOP: 0x000000D1 (0x0000080C, 0x00000002, 0x00000001, 0xEF1D6974)
A5AGU.SYS - Address EF1D6974 base at EF196000, datestamp 42e5d8ed
-----------------------------

Please help me understand how the winsock corruption problem relates to my error.

Thanks.

Sorry to hear you've got the latest driver from D-Link.

You may try uninstall, run winsock fix command; then reimstall latest driver.

Here's the MS solution:

Same assumed root cause, bad driver...

Stop message 0x000000D1 Descriptive text: DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

Usual cause: An attempt was made to touch pageable memory at a process internal request level (IRQL) that was too high. This is usually caused by drivers using improper addresses. Kernel-mode drivers are forbidden to access pageable memory at a high IRQL.

Solution:

1.

Use the Online Crash Analysis tool at the Microsoft Web site  . You can use this tool to send error reports to Microsoft and track their status by using your Microsoft Passport information. You can access the Online Crash Analysis Web site by using the Error Reporting service or by using your Web browser. When it is enabled, the Error Reporting service monitors your system for kernel and user mode faults that are related to operating system components and applications. With kernel-mode reporting, you can obtain more information about the problem or condition that caused the Stop error. For more information, see System and program error reporting overview .

Unfortunately, according to DLink the driver I'm using is the latest.

hopefully someone with a D-Link will chime in; I've got airlink, netgear, and Linksys products; no dlink specifically...
