Define what you mean by "faster".  Both are limited by the speed set forth by your ISP.

what i mean by faster is like, when i plug in my ethernet cord into my laptop and run it that way i find that things take longer webpages, downloads etc. and when i use wireless its realitivly faster. and i know that your speed is limited by your ISP.

The one thing that stands out is either a corrupt or outdated drive, most likely corrupt.  Downlaod the newest driver for the card, uninstall the device, reboot and point to the new driver when prompted.

Do you turn your wireless off when you are wired? If not that may be causing the problem. Try turning off your wireless by using the FN+F2. Then see how it runs via the wired connection.
