Wireless working, Internet Connection Down

I have 2 Inspirons, a 6000 & a 8600. We've had them both for a few years along with a Dell wireless router. I've never had any issues before, they've been working fine. Out of the blue last week my 8600 won't connect to the internet. It is picking up the wireless signal fine and connecting to the wireless but no internet. The 6000 is still connecting to both just fine. I did not change anything or download any new programs or anything like that. Infact I was on the net, walked into the kitchen to get a drink, came back and no internet. I tried restarting several times, both the laptop and the wireless & cable modem box and still nothing. I am wondering if it's something internal that has gone bad. This same thing happened about 2 weeks ago but after about 2 hrs. the internet just started working again on it's own. Any suggestions???:smileysad:

Hardwire direclty to the cabler modem (after a pwer down/up) of each and see waht you get.  If you can connect that way, then something is screwy with your connection from the router to the modem.

Personally, I would hard reset both.

I got a New Dell Laptop about 2 months ago.  I downloaded the AOL for vista and I am having the same problem.  It says that my Linksys is connected. But, when I go to Internet Explorer, my connection does not open up?  Any suggestion.  i have the wireless router that came with the laptop.  My regular email address is smd001@hotmail.com

Alright i have had this issue also and i found my problem. When using a secure network connection and you need to enter a security key if that key is entered improperly it will show a connection but will not allow actual communication. Try retyping that bad boy or remove it completely from your router config and check to make sure you can connect. Jordon
