Wireless Zero Configuration drops each time laptop turned off

Help! I'm tearing my hair out. I bought Netgear DG834PN router and it came with free WPN 111 wireless usb2.0 adaptor.  I've got 2 pcs and printer connected via ethernet and laptop via wireless - no problems there.  However this usb adaptor is supposed to improve range and speed.

Whenever I try to connect via the usb adaptor, i get "windows cannot configure the wireless connection". I can turn wireless zero configuration on by right clicking my computer-manage-services and starting it up and it works fine then. however as soon as i turn laptop off and power up again, i have to go thru' whole procedure again!

How do i get it to remember the setting and turn on wireless zero configuration on startup????

Totally flummoxed so all help appreciated.

Click Start > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services >in window, scroll to Wireless Zero Configuration. Double click WZC > Check that it's set to start automatically?

I keep doing that and it is set to automatic all the time, but I click on start and apply which sorts everything out just fine ------ until laptop is switched off.  Then when it comes back on, Wireless Zero Config has been stopped again and I have to do same again.

One point, Ive noticed though is that when laptop powers up it automatically connects to wireless network on ordinary connection.  But it won't let me then use usb connection(unless I do above procedure again).  Once I start up Wireless Zero though, both Wireless network connection say their on.

Which utility is managing your wireless, Windows? or Dell?

Well ordinary Wireless connection which is Netgear dg834pn router, is windows.  However when I installed usb adaptor Netgear wpn111(which came with router),  it said it should take over management instead of windows to get full benefits - so I clicked ok.  Since my last post I've reinstalled and clicked no to that question, which then gave me the Wireless page back on Network Connections properties and I clicked on Windows to manage for both ordinary and boosted wireless connections.  With this configuration it works!  It no longer automatically connects to the network when I turn on the laptop, but thats no bad thing and is easy enough to connect if I want to.  Just don't understand how 2 pieces of equipment from same company, which they sell together can not work together properly, when I originally clicked on all recommended options?
By the way thanks for your help.  Nice of you to take time to help a stranger!
