Question

My wife has an apple notebook which is wireless (airport) I have an 1100 dell notebook, can I use the airport to make my notebook wireless, if so do i need any new hardware?

I think john may have misinterepreted your question.

Are you saying that you have an Apple Airport basestation, and your wife has a apple laptop with a Airport card and is able to get on the internet wirelessly? If so, then yes, you can buy a cheap $40 wireless card and get online right next to her.

If the airport card is PCMCIA, yes.  You will need the drivers and wireless Utility.
