WOL issues with 3Com 3C920 Fast Etherlink (3C905-TX Compatible)....
We use SMS 2003, and a 1E product called SMSWakeup. All our PCs with the 3Com 3C920 Fast Etherlink (3C905-TX Compatible) NIC need to have the following reg change merged with their registry in order for them to WOL, in addition to the BIOS enabling. Enabling the BIOS alone will not wake the PC. THEY MUST be enabled on the NIC driver. You can read more on it here...
This utility applies the following change...
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E972-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}\0000]
"RWUMagic"="ENABLE"
"RWUPING"="DISABLE"
"RWUARP"="ENABLE"
"RWULink"="DISABLE"
So, we deployed a reg file to a collection of the workstations and now they are always waking. Shut them down, and they boot up. Sometimes right away, sometimes it takes several minutes, but they always boot back up.
Why? All our other PCs are not booting automatically, and they all have WOL enabled.
What have I tried:
1.Remove all the keys except "RWUMagic"="ENABLE" which SMSWakeup uses, no luck...still boots back up.
2.Disable all keys...won't boot, but now SMS will not wake the PC.
3. Combinations of enable and disable result in either SMS not waking, or the PCs waking by automatically.
4.Flashing BIOS
5.Native drivers/Dell drivers
Any ideas folks?
