WPC54G
I can not get my new LinkSys wpc54g pc card to work with my Inspirion Laptop... I have tried all the "latest" drivers and even called Dell's so called award winning support. Linksys says that the ports miight be 6 bit in withc case th bios would have to be updated. That was done and i am now running the As23 Bios from Dell. The card still does not work. It pwers up fine. The other computers on the wireless network work fine. This laptop is still giving me a head ache. Anyone ever experiance this. Thanks

Thats just it. I'm on my 2nd card and 2nd access point and still it won't work. The first card came from Page computers in Memphis TN, the 2nd from thier warehouse in California. The first AP I bought new on Ebay and the 2nd is a certified tested warranty replacement from Linksys. I just don't see getting a second bad one from different sources.I have to ask myself: What is different on my 2500 from the other dell users that this system works on? I don't have that answer and I'm running out of patience messing with this G system when a B card works perfectly

Well my patience has run out. I sent back the WAP54G and the WPC54G. I'm going with a "B" card. I did received a link today from Linksys to a site of a fellow who got a patch from a 02 Micro Card Controller engineer that may fix the problem.

I though I would pass it on here. I will never know if it worked....UPS picked up my WPC54G an hour ago

Linksys, Dell and Microsoft technical support could not stop my Inspiron 2100 from feezing when I inserted my Notebook adapter (Linksys wpc54G). So I bought a Microsoft wireless adapter and got the same problem, even though I hired a local computer troubleshooter to look at it. We finally solved the problem by using the Linksys wireless compact USB adapter instead of the PCMCIA slot.

I have found a possible fix for this issue. If you go into the router configuration, wirless tab, and then advanced wireless settings. Check these settings....1. Shut down the PC and unplug the WPC54G. 2. Power up the computer and plug the WPC54G back in.3. When Windows loads, you should not get an error anymore. If you do, please do the following on your Wireless Access Point or Wireless Router. Then, repeat steps 1 and 2. If one of the steps work, then you can stop at that step.a. Power down your Wireless Access Point or Wireless Router for 60 seconds then power it back up.b. Disable any Wireless MAC Filtering.c. Set the “Beacon Interval to 50d. Set the “Fragmentation Threshold to 2304.Then try to connect.

I have the same machine with Win XP home and could not get the 54G card from linksys or from DLink to work. After hours of phone support on reformat of the hard drive and many installs and uninstalls I decided the Technology is NOT READY for Prime Time!!
My wired network works like a peach eh!
