WUSB54G IP layer connectivity issue
Hi all,
I guess this is a nice problem to break brains.
Devices:
- Dimension 5150, XP SP2 Media Center with all relevant updates
- Wireless USB network adapter: WUSB54G v4
- Wireless router: WRK54G v1.1
All of them have the latest drivers/firmware and the wireless security is WPA with PSK.
When I connect the USB adapter to 5150, it is able to connect to the wireless router on radio level, but it is not able to transmit data through the USB adapter. Status is connected and signal strength is good. I’ve configured the USB adapter statically for IP, gateway and DNS. The local USB adapter IP address is pingable, but the wireless router’s (Default Gateway) IP is not.
You may think a faulty wireless USB network adapter, faulty USB port on 5150 or check firewall settings. Firewalls are disabled and I’ve already tried a working USB port by swapping it with the mouse port.
What’s left: faulty USB network adapter. When I connect the wireless USB network adapter to my laptop (HP nc6000, XP SP2) it works perfect. I’m able to surf on the Internet with using the same settings as used on the 5150.
Has anyone ideas how to tackle this issue? I appreciate any feedback.
Regards,
