XP computer cannot find my Vista computer

Question

Hi,   I just bought an Inspiron 1520 (running Vista business) and am in the process of switching old files, etc. from my old Inspiron 2650 (running XP professional).  I also have a Latitude D610 (also XP) that I use for work.   I have set up the 1520 in a Linksys wireless network, however, the D610 cannot find the 1520 in Network places, while it can find the 2650.   1)  Has anyone had similar problems?   2)  Could it be related to a firewall program?  I usually need to disable Norton on the 2650 to detect the 2650 from the D610; McAfee came with the 1520 and I can't seem to turn it off.   Does anyone have any suggestions?   Thanks in advance.

go into network & connections center in vista. somewhere in there is a place to turn on 'network sharing and discovery.' however, even after you turn it on, mine worked randomly and inconsistently. enjoy it when it works

Thanks.   I followed the link to the other thread and downloaded the patch.  i also found out that the McAfee firewall was not disabled, so i disabled that.  I was finally able to access the shared folders going either way and was able to access the shared printer.    Problem solved.
